Ekiti State Joined the NEWMAP Project in the year 2019 as one of the tier iv States.
Poised with the passion for development and environmental stability, the Governor met criterial needed to Join the World Bank assisted project. Formulated the project monitoring and implementation team. The determination of Mr Governor and the earnest responsiveness of the Project team earned the State the position of the Best Performing State in the tier iv States.
Total number of persons whose life has been touched positively by the project is estimated to be about 300,000.

Numbers Speak For Themselves
Ekiti State is in the south-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. It was created out of the old Ondo State in 1996 and it is divided into sixteen local government areas which include Ado, Ikere, Efon-Alaaye, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ido-Osi, Oye, Ekiti-West, Emure, Ise-Orun, Ikole, Ijero, Gbonyin, Moba, Ilejemeje, Ekiti-South West and Ekiti-East.
Aforestation
Identification and mobilization of interested farmers to plant and maintain 40Ha of individual farmers woodlots of fast growing trees species; Identification and mobilization of interested farmers to plant and maintain 50 Ha of individual farmers of fruit trees orchards of improved species; Identification of nine(9) highly degraded forest reserves area within nine (9) forest reserves in Ekiti State (Ado, Ekiti East, Ekiti South/West, Ekiti West, Emure, Gbonyin, Ikere, Ise/Orun and Oye) in the sub-project areas for the regeneration through planting of fast growing tree species of Tectona grandis Gmelima arborea, Terminalia superba, Triplochyton spp, Irvingia gabonensis, Parkia biglobosa, Cordia mileni, Massonia altisima, Orchard plantation of mangifera indica, guava species, cashew, moringa oleifera and citrus. Experience has shown that the aforementioned species thrive well in the affected forest reserves. Identification of registered farmers associations with gender consideration in the identified sub-project sites to articipate in the establishment of tree planting project; Identification of and establish catchment plantation at 3 water bodies in Ekiti State; Identification and mobilization of interested farmers within the sub-catchment for the development of Natural Re-generation plots
Ecological Sites
Adequate engagement with members of the communities around gully site to ascertain the historical backgrounds of the erosion sites. Focus group discussion, meetings with the Landlord associations gathering of qualitative data. Led to the discovery of nine (9) out of several others to be focused in the cause of the project.
